The judges came to their decision by running the SUV through different conditions. Over 1,000 miles of terrain that consisted of pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks, mud and snow at a variety of different elevations proved that the vehicle was a capable machine. Judges evaluated a number of different performance factors including transmission function and cooling, tire performance and durability, and capability of the four-wheel drive system.
