2016 Chevrolet Camaro Revealed

Yes, you read the headline correctly: the 2016 Camaro was unveiled by Chevrolet on May 16, and it’s everything you’d expect a next-generation Camaro to be. It retains little from last year’s version, keeping only the rear bowtie emblem and the SS badge, but there’s no doubt that this is the vehicle performance-car fans have come to know and love over the years.

The team at our Chevy dealership near Bangor, ME, was blown away by how incredible the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro truly is. It’s the most powerful Camaro SS in history, powered by one of six brand-new powertrain combinations, which include the pulse-pounding LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates a whopping 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.

Chevy engineers built the new Camaro with a lighter architecture and smaller dimensions, but still carefully crafted the exterior. Its new shape reduces aerodynamic lift and improves both handling and fuel efficiency. The 2016 model was designed to be an all-around crowd-pleaser, whether you’re a longtime muscle car fan or a brand-new Chevy customer.

In a release, Mark Ruess, General Motors executive vice president of Product Development, commented, “For Camaro enthusiasts, it retains iconic design cues and offers even more performance. For a new generation of buyers, the 2016 Camaro incorporates our most innovative engineering ideas with finely honed performance and leading design.”

What do you think about the new-and-improved 2016 Chevrolet Camaro? We’ll be excited to receive it at Central Maine Chevy Buick when it goes on sale later this year.  Stay tuned to find out when you can take it out for a spin!
